SQL 2005 Database (Hosted)

A hosted Microsoft SQL Server 2005 database is a database which is hosted on XLHost's shared SQL environment. The benefits of hosted SQL include:

• No licensing fee.
• No need to install/maintain Microsoft SQL Server 2005 on your own dedicated server.
• Database and transaction log are backed up daily.

Hosted SQL may not be right for you if:

• You require full access to the SQL server.
• You have a very high activity application.
• Your database is, or will grow to be very large.

Licensed SQL

The following options refer to a license for Microsoft SQL Server. The only difference in the product is which version of SQL is installed. XLHost will provide a license for, and then install and configure a default Microsoft SQL server instance on your dedicated server.

The versions of Microsoft SQL server that XLHost currently supports are:

The benefits of a SQL License include:

• Unlimited access to the server configuration.
• Databases/transaction logs can be as large as your dedicated server can handle.
• User is free to install software such as myLittleAdmin to manage licensed SQL.

Licensed SQL may not be right for you if:

• Your application requires simple database access.
• You are sensitive to the license cost.

Management Options

Dell DRAC 4

The Dell Remote Access Controller or DRAC represents best in breed out of band management for your Dell Poweredge dedicated server.

The benefits of the DRAC 4 include:

• Full out of band management including remote console access even when the OS is unavailable.
• Remote Power management including Power Off, Power On, Reboot.
• System health monitoring.
