Managed Firewall Protection
We're not in digitial Kanasas anymore, Aibo.
The number of threats on the Internet continues to increase at an exponential rate. Threats are being introduced into the wild daily that attempt to attack ALL types of software and hardware vulnerabilities. System administrators and other individuals who leverage directly connected Internet servers for their organization require multiple layers of stratified protection to shield their businesses from these threats.
Although there is no single point of security, by leveraging good practices such as strong passwords, regular patch intervals, and an Anti-Virus solution; a system administrator can help protect their assets, but sometimes these means alone may not be enough.
Keep the hot side hot; and the cold side cold.
Firewalls help protect your system by denying all traffic that you have not explicitly allowed into the network. They also do things like automatically block source addresses of devices which send more packets than are allowed within a specific threshold per minute, block known security flaws (intrusion detection).
Software firewalls, such as Zone Alarm, and Norton Internet Security operate on the assumption that the operating system itself secure, because they operate at the top layer of the network hierarchy. However, if there is something preventing your software firewall from working properly it is rendered useless. This is why security experts unanimously recommend hardware firewalls. XLHost has been securing Internet attached networks, and servers for over a decade; and is proud to offer Watch Guard network security appliances to its customers.
The little red box that does.
Some of the benefits that the X 500 provide are:
- Dynamic state-full packet firewall
- Network Cloaking
- Automatic blocking of source addresses which violate your security policy
XLHost realizes that most of our customers support multiple applications, spanning many platforms, and do not have a lot of time to devote to managing a dedicated security appliance. XLHost takes the guesswork out of solid system security. By supplying XLHost with an initial list of the ports or applications you plan to run on your server; and then simply letting us know if you need to change your settings we handle the configuration, monitoring, and attack mitigation processes involved with your firewall deployment.
This solution must be expensive!
XLHost has developed multiple options for different organizations.
- A dedicated Port on a shared Firebox X 500 $30 per month
- A dedicated Firebox X 500 $150 per month [5 ports] (Customer Management is allowed)
Each port on the Firebox X 500 can provide sustained throughput of 100Mbps, each Firebox X500 can support sustained throughput of 400Mbps.

**Please note: if you are using a shared port and your level of throughput is causing a negative condition for other users on the same port XLHost reserves the right to request that you move to a dedicated firewall port.
